A medal win at the Global Wine Masters can open many doors. You could promote it to your existing clients so that they stock up, build marketing campaigns in key retailers, or use it as proof of excellence when seeking new importers and distributors. But to do this (and so much more) our judges need to be the very best in the world.
To judge with the Global Wine Masters, you need proof that your palate is amongst the best in the business. All our judges fit one of these rigorous criteria:
Masters of Wine
With less than 450 MWs in the world, they comprise an elite group from across the entire wine trade. Just to apply, you need years of experience in the wine trade and a diploma-level qualification, with the studies then taking at least three years. To earn the title, candidates must succeed in several blind-tasting exams, pass rigorous theory papers and submit an original research thesis.
Master Sommeliers
The Court of Master Sommeliers rewards the very finest in the field of wine service, with fewer than 300 members around the world. These experts have incredible technical knowledge and tasting skills, with a deep understanding of service and the demands of the on-trade. To become an MS, you must pass demanding exams in theory, practical-tasting and practical service.
Senior Buyers
We understand that many producers use the competitions to access new markets, and so the opinions of buyers are essential. The buyers we work with have skills and knowledge on a par with the above qualifications. They come with years of experience in tasting and evaluating wines for commercial performance, bringing a vital perspective in tasting and an understanding of the quality available on the market.
